This will get you on the membership/e-mail/phone
list, and you will be notified of meetings and events. Currently
there are no local dues or other requirements. We will occasionally
undertake fund-raising and donation efforts, which we encourage you to
participate in if you wish to. We also hope you will attend as many
meetings and public events as you can, and participate in the democratic
decision-making process for planning what we as a local chapter should
do in the future.
This chapter has been formed quite recently,
so now is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor and help us
build a chapter that responds to your concerns and goals for promoting
human rights.
If you wish to, you can also (separately) Join the Amnesty International National Organization, for a suggested membership donation of $25 or more. Of course, we encourage local members to do this if possible, but whether you join the National organization does not affect your membership in the Oakton local organizations.
