In all of my readings of the greatest document ever to be authored by human hands I have not come across that "right" nor have I seen it added in any of the subsequent Amendments.

However, in my reading of the Constitution it clearly states that providing for the common defense is a constitutional obligation of the Federal Government and the actions taken by President Bush and Attorney General Ashcroft are wholly consistent with that legal and moral obligation.

U.S. District Judge Gladys Kessler ruled on Aug. 3, 2002 against the Bush administration on incarcerating thousands of people incognito without being charged. "Unquestionably, the public's interest in learning the identities of those arrested and detained is essential to verifying whether the government is operating within the bounds of the law," she wrote in her ruling.  There is no legally declared war, Mr. Brain Dead Constitutional Scholar; that requires a declaration by the Congress, so Bush has no legal justification for arbitrarily suspending habeas corpus.  Shrub and AssKKKroft arbitrarily gave themselves the sole right to declare anyone they choose as an "enemy combatant" subject to imprisonment without being charged with a crime, without legal representation, subject to military tribunal and summary execution.  Before the Bogus POTUS squatted in the White House, such practices as secret trials and tribunals, and secret police in other countries have long been rightly condemned by the United States government as the hallmarks of tyranny.  Oh, but Bush is a Republican, so that makes it okay?

More bullshit.  Clinton’s  launched cruise missile attacks of 1998, directed against Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan and the Sudan, following the terrorist bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. Operating on limited intelligence -- at that time, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Tazikistan refused to share information on the terrorists whereabouts inside Afghanistan -- U. S. strikes missed bin Laden by only a couple of hours.  What did the Republicans do?  They bitched about Monica, forced the impeachment proceedings, then proceeded to lose seats in the 1998 elections.

In Oct. 2000 the U.S.S. Cole was bombed by terrorists killing 17 U.S. Sailors. What did Bill Clinton do??? NOTHING!!!  Clinton's incompetence and fecklessness in combating terrorism emboldened the terrorists to viciously murder over 3,000 innocent American citizens on the fateful morning of September 11, 2001.  They did so because they feared no reprisal or retaliation from the United States as the Great Stainmaker had so often conditioned them to that sort of impotent response.  If you wish to blame someone for terrorism, place the blame where it squarely belongs on the shoulders of William Jefferson Blythe Clinton.

Okay, Valley Boy, if Clinton was so ineffective, why did the 9/11 terrorist attacks occur on Bush's watch, and not Clinton's?  Bush did NOTHING until AFTER the 9/11 attacks.  He was even briefed about a terrorist attack by his own FBI while talking to his cows on his Crawford ranch during August 2001, and he did NOTHING.  Bush, on his trip to Italy just weeks before 9/11, was warned by the Italian government that there was a threat on his life from an airliner attack when he was in Genoa; the pictures of the anti-aircraft batteries set up to defend Genoa were all over the news media at the time.  As the August 12, 2002 issue of Time magazine ("They Had A Plan") exposed, it's because the Bush administration paid more attention to Star Wars and Ashcroft was busy cracking down on medical marijuana and porn, and actually cut the anti-terrorism budget.  The Bush administration was secretly negotiating with the Taliban to build a gas pipeline through Afghanistan on behalf of Unocal, and after the negotiations broke down, they gave the Taliban the ultimatum of being paved with a carpet of gold or a carpet of bombs.  John O'Neill, FBI's top official tracking Bin Laden, and later killed at the WTC on 9/11, was hamstrung by his higher ups on orders of Bush, who specifically wanted the FBI to back off on investigating the Bin Laden family (Osama's brothers lived right next to Washington).  Bush's incompetence and reactionary opposition to anything accomplished by Clinton is responsible for being unprepared for the 9/11 attacks.  In July 2001, the Bush administration repealed an FAA rule allowing pilots to carry handguns.

If he had been a competent President, Bush could be focusing his energy elsewhere.

Clinton's economic policies (vehemently opposed by Congressional Republicans who loudly and publicly predicted economic disaster in 1993, and were all proven wrong) brought 8 years of prosperity, and a record budget surplus.  Bush squandered all that in 18 months.

Please find a family member of a victim of last Sept. 11th and voice your concerns over the treatment of terrorists and/or potential terrorists. Tell me if they share your sick and demented "concern."  As for Harry Browne, who care about him??? He wants to legalize drugs. Apparently his mind is too scrambled by drug use to be a serious political figure.
