2006 Fall Mathematics Competition

Please bring: Picture ID, Calculators and Pencils

Every Oakton student is welcome to participate. Students can be admitted either at 1:00pm or 2:00pm. The earliest time that a student can leave the competition room is 2:05pm.

Students are permitted to use any scientific or graphics calculator, provided they do not have a keyboard (such as, for example TI-92) or a disk drive. However, no books, mathematical tables, computers or questions are permitted during the test.

Each student who participates in the competition will receive a certificate of participation. To be eligible for an Oakton award, a student must enroll in a credit course. Each student who scores 10 points or higher will receive a certificate of honorable mention. The highest five scores will receive plaques. The annual award ceremony will be held May 4, 2006. The highest ten of total scores in both fall 2005 and spring 2006 will receive the annual awards. Besides certificates and medallions, winners could receive other appropriate gifts. The top six annual award winners will receive the US Savings Bonds: first place, $200; second and third, $150 each; 4th, 5th and 6th, $100 each. All the amounts are the face values of US Savings Bonds.

The STEM Club will hold three preparation workshops in Room 2140 at 2:30pm-3:30pm
